An occupation. You are who you dress to be, and I believe in being the best. That means shopping should be taken seriously. It's just as much a part of my job as is answering the phone or emailing clients.

A creative outlet. It's a chance to find something special that speaks to you and is an extension of your personality. Shopping for clothes is like searching for buried treasure without a map – you never know what to expect!

It's a necessary evil. Essential clothing doesn't change much over the years, so why bother hunting for something outside the norm? Instead of keeping up with the latest looks, I stick with what has always worked for me. I want to be comfortable with as little hassle as possible.

It's better than sex. It's in a woman's DNA to shop until you drop, so who am I to go against nature?

Because I have to look good all the time. It's a part of the image I want to portray in my professional and personal life. That means constantly updating my wardrobe so I'm not seen wearing the same thing too often.

Even when I don't need new clothes, it's retail therapy! A new dress, top or shoes always makes me feel invigorated.

To create a new look, shopping and dressing are an art form. You can't just go willy-nilly into the experience. You must find inspiration and follow your dream until it comes true.

When dragged kicking and screaming to the store. Like Mark Twain said, "Never put off until tomorrow what you can do the day after tomorrow." I wait until my clothes are almost threadbare before venturing into a store. There are so many choices I get confused and frustrated.

What do you mean, when do I prefer to shop? I shop all the time. New merchandise is hitting the stores everyday and I'd hate to miss out on something wonderful! Besides, shopping is my hobby. Some people play sports or do arts and crafts; I shop.

When hell freezes over. I'm not that good at finding stylish things, plus I hate the pressure of deciding whether or not I really need something while at the store. At least with online shopping I can take my time and not feel obligated to buy something then and there.

At lunch when I'm able to get away from the office or on Saturdays when I have all day to devote to finding the right items. I'm a busy woman, after all. I shop online and I've used used a stylist in the past to help me with good results.

Whenever the mood strikes, or when I discover a new boutique or second-hand shop with its undiscovered possibilities, or I see something in a store window or magazine which gives me ideas. With an idea as a guide, I can shop with a purpose.

I try to match it with several different pieces in my closet. If something appeals to me that's radically different from what I've worn before, I go for it. Life is about experimentation and trying new things - clothes are no exception.

Ask myself if I really need it and if it's really worth the price. There's nothing I dislike worse than buying something and then never wearing it. But if something really stands out, is the right color and fit, and is a style that will last for years (and it's not expensive), then I'll purchase it.

I check the designer label but not the price tag. Nothing's too good for me. And if it's not comfortable but makes an impact, that's fine, I'll purchase it anyway, especially if it's an original and not mass-produced. For me, dressing is all about making a statement.

I jump right in and buy it. If I don't buy it now, it might not be here next week, so carpe vestimenta! So what if I never wear many new purchases? Just knowing they're in the drawer or closet gives me a sense of fulfilment.

Someone whose opinion I trust. I don't mind if she suggests something which I normally wouldn't try on, because I know she won't be offended if I don't take her suggestion. She's also a great second pair of eyes for those sale items.

My BFF or my sister. Girls just want to have fun and what better way than improving our wardrobes? She's someone who can keep up with my pace of bouncing from store to store and she'll let me know if I'm about to buy the wrong thing – but also encourages me to buy lots of the right things.

My credit card. I like shopping alone. I don't like to be slowed down when I'm shopping. Most people can't afford the boutiques and salons where I shop anyway.

No one—I don't like interference. I like to take my time wandering through stores. I don't ask for anyone's opinion because I know what works and what doesn't. I look for a wide base of basics with a few pricier items.

Make an image statement. Clothes make the woman, which is why I buy high-dollar clothing, most of which must go to the cleaners.

Express my personality and get the most use out of each article of clothing. I'm not so concerned with being 'in fashion' as I am with being creative and finding new ways to be me.

Look fresh and trendy. I would be horrified to be caught in something so last season. Much of my self-esteem is based on my looks and I've just got to look my most stylish.

Feel comfortable in. The fit, feel, color, and cut should cater to my comfort. I also want clothes which are easy to care for – wash, dry, and go.

Is conservative and safe – and preferably has a sale price tag. I like tried and true items which I've worn for years and have no complaints about. They work, so why change?

Is ultra-trendy. Fads come and go, which is why my closet interior never looks the same from season to season.

Is authentic. An outfit makes me happy when it features a something that is uniquely me; burst of color, a unique accessory, fantastic print, or an old standby updated with a new accessory.

Has designer labels written all over them. Call me the couture queen. Elegance, confidence, and a meticulous attention to detail define my style.

Save it. If I don't need a new piece of clothing, I won't waste money.

Spend it on clothes and accessories as fast as I can. The more, the merrier!

Purchase something high-end. I deserve a few well-earned luxury items.

Purchase that something I've had my eye on for a while. I love adding unexpected treasures.

Like I might have made a mistake. When I wear something trendy, I may like it but I'm also constantly wondering how much mileage I'll get out of it before it becomes yesterday's fad.

Just as content as if I purchased something popular from another decade or a jumble sale. I always tweak it a bit to make it "me."

Like a celebrity and the center of attention! New clothes say I have my eye on fashion, I care about how I look, and I'm moving forward in fashion.

Confident, classy and in control. As a successful woman, I must dress the part and that means keeping up with styles to show the power of my pocketbook.

In what I've been wearing for the past decade (or more). I have a few trusted name brands which never do me wrong.

When I wear something which makes people say, "You look gorgeous, hot or fabulous!" I get such a boost and a sense of accomplishment when others recognized and compliment me on my look.

When I wear an expensive new accessory. There's nothing like a piece of jewelry which adds that final touch of class to an outfit and says I have given a lot of thought to dressing.

In the latest trends. You won't catch me in something out of style. Whether it's casual, business, or formal attire, you can bet I'm on the leading edge of fashion.
